A bit about our village
Milltownpass (Bealach Bhaile an Mhuilinn) is a small village in County Westmeath with a population of approximately 190 people. The village has an interesting heritage in that it was one of the first villages in Ireland to have its own electricity supply: a turbine on the Milltown River providing power to the village long before rural electrification. Many fascinating stories still circulate amongst locals from the time when the "light" came.

The village is located close to the Milltownpass Bog (NHA), home to an abundance of wildlife with a newly opened Bog & Woodland trail providing unmatched peace and tranquility to those who use it. The Milltown River begins at the north side of the village and flows south to the County Offaly border where it splits into the Monagh River.
Milltownpass has a very active and collaborative community sector with a number of voluntary organisations in operation including ourselves (Milltownpass Tidy Towns), Milltownpass GAA, Milltownpass Community Center (CAG), 9th Westmeath Scouts, Active Retirement Club and Millview Residence Association. Local business's include Grennans Bar & Funeral Home, Bennetts Construction, Cole Arc Engineering, Wrights Windows and Skyclad.
